DESCRIPTION:Historic Preservation Event \n\nJoin us at Fair Oaks at the Marietta Educational Garden Center on Saturday\, November 2nd from 10am to 2pm for a day of education and activities hosted by the Laurel District. This fundraiser benefits the Garden Club of Georgia’s Historic Landscape Preservation Grant offered for restoration of historic landscapes\, public or private. \nWe have two fabulous speakers and honored guests including Lisa Hall\, GCG President and a special guest appearance is expected! Before and after the scheduled program\, guests can stroll the grounds to enjoy Fair Oaks’ gardens including the “Georgia’s First Ladies” named Camellias\, The Founders Garden\, the Pollinator and the Gazebo meditation areas. \nGuests can watch ‘Plein Air’ painters working outdoors to incorporate the landscape into their creations. Additionally\, everyone is invited to see educational exhibits\, listen to music\, shop garden club merchandise and enchanting raffle baskets. Inside the Civil War era home\, there will be docents on hand offering interesting tidbits about the home’s history. \nProgram speakers include Trevor Beemon\, Executive Director of Cobb Landmarks & Historical Society\, Inc. and the Chairman of the Acworth Historic Preservation Commission along with Paul Pugliese\, Bartow County Extension Coordinator/ANR Agent. \nTickets are $45 per person\, including morning coffee\, a boxed lunch (menu selections on form). DESCRIPTION:Save the date for the Native Plant Symposium to be held at GCG headquarters at the State Botanical Garden in the Terrace Room. \n\nFebruary 15\, 9:00 am – 3:30 pm\n\n\n\nFee: $65 (lunch included) \nREGISTER ONLINE \n\n\nAccording to the Oxford Learner’s Dictionary\, resilience refers to “the ability of people or things to recover quickly after something unpleasant\, such as shock\, injury\, etc.” This has recently become quite the buzzword as we as humans are navigating a new normal\, but this term can also be applied to our natural ecosystems as they\, too\, endure the need to recover quickly after shock and injury. \nGrowing and protecting native plants are important for many reasons: they celebrate our state and region\, they are well suited to our region’s growing conditions\, and they are the foundation of the complex ecosystem that supports insects\, birds\, reptiles\, amphibians and mammals. Native plants can be tough\, beautiful plants for your home landscape and delicate harbingers of the changing seasons. Join us for this year’s Native Plant Symposium to explore the beauty of native plants and their ability to equip communities with health\, recovery and stability\, as well as their role in connecting individuals who value and respect nature.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for our annual historic landscape preservation fundraiser at Massee Lane Garden in Fort Valley. The nine acre garden holds one of the world’s finest collections of camellias. The Garden began as the private garden of David C. Strother in the 1930s. Mr. Strother donated this land to the American Camellia Society for its headquarters in 1966. Additional gardens of roses\, daffodils\, daylilies\, chrysanthemums\, azaleas\, flowering trees\, annuals and perennials provide year round beauty. Click here for details and registration form.
