Northwoods Garden Club of Macon

In celebration of national garden week, Northwoods Garden Club of Macon placed a beautiful arrangement at the local post office.  It was much appreciated by the staff.

Beautiful Post Office arrangement

Northwoods Garden Club also helped member Betty Wall celebrate her 100th birthday! Miss Betty is pictured holding a Proclamation from Macon Mayor Lester Miller declaring June 17, 2022, Betty Ricks Wall Day in Macon to commemorate her 100th birthday. Also pictured are Macon-Bibb County Commissioner Valarie Wynn, Miss Betty and her daughter Tricia Buse.  Almost 100 friends attended her surprise party at The Cottages on Wesleyan, including many  of her Northwoods Garden Club members.  Betty graduated from Mercer University and taught first grade in the Bibb County school system for 25 years.  She joined Northwoods Garden Club in 1982 after she retired. She is a past Club President and remains an active member of the club. She is always willing to bake cookies for the teas and bake sales.  When  asked what her secret is for such a long life she said “The Good Lord, good genes, and a good life”. Congratulations Betty!
